        Because he needs a multi national system through which he can distribute his superior burger. So, is it the product or system that determines success?

        One could argue that Ray Kroc did not have an original idea at all. He took an existing idea, namely the modest hamburger and tweaked his system over and over until McDonalds became one the of the worlds most powerful brands.  
        McDonalds is therefore hardly a product, neither is it unique. Rather, McDonalds is a brand, powered by a precise system. Every time you collect your cold-drink at the drive-through you’ll get exactly the same amount of ice! The patty remains on the grill for a specified amount of time. The system is so detailed and so exact and even though we may not believe they may make the best food, we trust their system.  
        Regardless of your personal opinion of McDonalds, they have a refined system the envy of corporates the world over.
